Allison Young is based in Edinburgh, and creates stunning seascapes; often focusing on the island of Tiree.
She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1988, with first class honours, then did a postgraduate diploma. In 1991 she studied in Lodz, Poland, for a year, under the British Council Scholarship Scheme.
Allison has enjoyed great success since - and in 2001, was artist in residence at Edinburgh Zoo.
She paints primarily in acrylic, and her sweeping sea and beach-scapes are mostly presented as box-canvases (i.e. unframed) to create a harmonious and 'unending' horizon that's not dissected by a frame edge.
