Born in 1981, Adam is a native of the historic city of Edinburgh. He is an artist who is committed to painting excellent commissioned portraits, developed with care and sensitivity, that he has continued to produce and refine over the last eight years.
He is the great grandson of Dr R. Douglas Strachan, the world renowned Scottish designer of stained glass. Coming from an Artistic family, Adam, was always encouraged to pursue a career in the visual arts. In 2000 He won a place at the internationally recognised Glasgow School of Art, where he studied for a BA in Drawing and Painting.
Since Adam organised his first local exhibition in 2009, he has made a commitment to follow his passion for detailed figurative and surrealist art. From 2011 to 2014 he worked from a studio at the popular Artist hub of Coburg House, in the Leith shore area of Edinburgh. During this time Adam also worked as an Art Specialist at one of the largest Nurseries (Kindergarten) in Edinburgh, exhibited regularly, and also completed numerous commissions.
After his first son was born Adam took a break to focus on family life, but has now moved to a private studio where he has returned to working full time as a painter.
