Mike Service is a hugely talented and verstile artist, based in beautiful Bath. working in many different media, with different techniques, his paintings are full of colour and life. We are delighted to be showing his work to our Edinburgh patrons for the first time.
Mike says: "Early retirement from an increasingly tedious career gave me the time to draw and paint and a four year study of a BA (Hons) Fine Art painting degree course at my local Uni. I am a figurative painter ( I paint what I see ) but am not restricted to mimicry of the subject and somehow the painting has a will of its own and just takes over.I paint large seascapes, cloudscapes and muddy fields, boats and reflections, with a broad brush, palette knife and a variety of stuff, whatever works really. I also paint flowers in jugs, small paintings, crudely with a palette knife, all in oil, and occasionally, watercolours.I have exhibited in galleries in and around Bath and several southern towns and in London, Manchester, Burford in the Cotswolds and Blakeney on the north Norfolk coast and every year in my sailing club in Anglesey!"
