Susan is based in Pembrokeshire, and is showing with us in Edinburgh for the first time. She is an artist and printmaker, and works in many different media. She also teaches various aspects of painting and printmaking.
Though largely a figurative artist, experiments with collage have allowed for improvisation and sheer fun, leading to more abstract work. In the last fifteen years, many visits to India, land of her birth, have led to a resurgence in interest in the people, colour and pattern and the development of her sketches into larger works. She and her husband support two small schools in Tamil Nadu, where, off the beaten track, she can draw simple village life; though even then she is often surrounded by children blocking her view, and has to put the landscape aside, and draw the surrounding crowd instead.
