Paul Mowat is an established and well respected Scottish artist, who is known mainly for his oil painting but is now moving into a period of experimenting with mixed media, sculpture and installation.
We are also delighted to have Paul as one of the key tutors involved with The Edinburgh Drawing School, and he has a fantastic reputation as a tutor of life drawing and painting, portraiture, and landscape painting.
He says of his work: "I am an artist concerned with the human condition. I am based in Edinburgh where I paint and teach. I am interested in what makes each of us unique, the ageing process, our relationships with one another and the remnants from that: writing, photographs and other artifacts of use as a source material. I am constantly amazed at our uniqueness, what makes you, you and me, me. People can be beguiling, beautiful, terrible, banal and surprising. We are all here, now and for a short time. I attempt to record some sort of trace."
Paul's work can currently be seen here at EDS and at the VAS exhibition in the RSA gallery, Edinburgh.
