Kris Stewart was born and raised in Orange County, California and attended California State University - Long Beach where she developed her lifelong interest in art and design.
In 1993 Krissy relocated to Scotland and went on to continue her advanced studies at Napier University and Edinburgh College of Art where she explored a range of techniques and applications including life-drawing, lithography, etching, screen printing and photopolymer etching. In 2001 Kris attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Design and Applied Arts with First Class Honours. In 2011 Krissy moved to Shanghai for a three year period with her husband Alan, and daughters Abbie and Tate. While in China, Krissy developed her passion for oil and acrylic painting – working alongside Hong Kong based artist Beulah van Rensburg. Now based in Edinburgh and in the Scottish Borders, Krissy draws inspiration and the subjects of her paintings and prints from the forms, colours, tones and moods of the dramatic landscape that surrounds her studio in Innerleithen and elsewhere in Scotland and from her experiences of living in China.
