David M. Graham’s paintings clearly suggest an intimate association with the outdoor environment, combining a bold application of opaque colour with subtle translucent overlays to create an expressive response to his subject matter.
David was born in Africa to a South African mother and Scottish father, he eventually moved to Scotland where he has spent his adult life. David graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in the 1970s and later completed a masters degree at ECA.
David's work is fresh and vibrant with the essential element of recognisable yet intriguing imagery. The research for his most recent paintings embraced the landscape and rugged shores of Scotland and has substantially influenced both the content and style of his work. His interpretation and execution of each painting reflects powerfully experienced emotion and a unique personal vision.
