Birmingham based Jan Gay graduated with a degree at Bournville College of Art and continued her studies in Fine Art and Ceramics at Eastbourne Teacher Training College.
Jan's inspiration is widespread, but the essential common thread of her work is her use of fresh, vibrant colour and strong composition. Jan says of her work: "Throughout my career as an artist I have enjoyed the powerful use of colour and immediacy of mark making. My richness of media reflects a fascination for abstract elements and characterises my compositions. The subjects that I paint are undoubtedly my drive, inspiration is everywhere. However, my real passion is for the creative journey and my desire to produce visually stimulating art, expressing the way I view the world."
Jan works from her studio in Solihull, she exhibits nationally and as a member at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. She is a committee member of the Birmingham & Midland Pastel Society and a member of Solihull Artists Forum. Jan also holds art classes and workshops in the community including sessions with the elderly in a local residential home.
