David Palmer is a Glasgow-based artist, tutor and print-maker. Born in Glasgow, in 1964, David was been Chairman of the esteemed Glasgow Print Studio for several years, retiring from the post in 2008, although he remains involved.
David studied at Glasgow School of art in the 1980's, graduating with a Degree in Fine Art Printmaking. He then went on to attain his teaching qualifications, and for many years taught Art & Design.
He says of his work: "For a number of years I have found inspiration in simple everyday objects, in particular, the jug. The jug has been a recurring theme in my work for some time. I enjoy trying to capture their expressions, personalities, moods and emotions as if drawing a portrait. I am intrigued by the shadows cast by, or on objects that reveal a sense of place and time. My chosen medium is etching which allows me to create rich textures and atmospheric tones through scraping, polishing and re-etching to create the desired effect."
His beautiful and collectable limited edition etchings are highly sought after, as well as his rare original works.
