Colin is a Scottish artist, well known for his beautiful small scale paintings of landscapes and flowers, along with the occasional hen, cockrel and pheasant! He graduated from Edinburgh College of Art and did a further year at Glasgow School of Art.
Colin then went on to work in Graphics and Architecture, until 1984, when he changed career and joined staff at the (then) Napier College in Edinburgh, where he lectured in Interior Design and Computer Aided Design for 16 years. Colin still teaches workshops and gives demonstrations, but most of his time is spent on his own painting. He says of his work: "I am a colourist and tonalist painter and I think my work is in demand because of those qualities. Its a way of seeing and thinking that has been with me as long as I can remember. My influences tend to come from Alla Prima painters and especially those who can distill the essence of a subject down to the quintessential elements."
