Alan Cameron is a Scottish artist whose principle subjects are the landscapes of Scotland and Italy and portraiture. He is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and The University of Edinburgh. His first solo exhibition, in 1984 set the main themes of his work in place, since then, he has continued to exhibited throughout the UK and across Europe.
Alan works primarily in pastels, although often considered a traditional medium, Alan's work is modern, fresh, dynamic and full of vigour. Often working on a large scale, his landscapes, coastal scenes and figurative works seek to capture the essential ingredients of his subjects; their form, texture, colour and temperature.
In April 2015, we are delighted to welcome Alan to the Edinburgh Drawing School, where he will join our teaching staff, tutoring the course 'Introdcution to Drawing with Pastels'. If you are interested, you can read more about the course programme at the drawing school website here.
