Alasdair Banks is a Glasgow based artist, best known for his large, expressive paintings of race horses.
Alasdair studied at the Edinburgh College of Art, before setting up his studio in Strathbungo, Glasgow. His use of a brightly coloured palatte and expressive brushwork make his pictures of horse racing quite unique in the genre of contemporary sporting art. Alasdair enjoys the challenge of painting many other sporting scenes including motor-racing, boxing, cricket and athletics. He also paints architecture scenes and cityscapes in this distinctive style. We are very pleased to have three of Alasdair's paintings on show at the gallery, a race horse, a panormaic Edinburgh skyline and a car painting that will no doublt appeal to anyone with a passion for the Grand Prix. Alasdair's work is held in private collections and exhibited across Europe, The USA and Dubai as well as at the major racecourses in the UK.
